Removing positive battery cable from vehicle battery for starter motor
Preliminary work
- Refer to DEACTIVATING VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
- Refer to REMOVING INTAKE PORT .
- Refer to REMOVING INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Refer to REMOVING CROSS CONNECTION .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN .
- Refer to REMOVING THE ACOUSTIC COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION WITH THE THRUST FIELD .
WARNING:
Working on 12 V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.
- Loosen screws (1) .
- Remove battery cover (2)

- Loosen expanding rivet (arrow).
- Remove the mounting for the gasket (1)

- Release screws (arrows) and remove tension strut (1)
.
- Loosen nuts (1) .
- Feed out the positive battery cable (2) and set it aside.
- Detach positive battery terminal (3) .
- Guide the positive battery cable (4)
out of the engine firewall (5)
and lay aside.
- Guide out and remove the cover (1) .
- Loosen nut (2) .
- Feed out the positive battery cable (3) from the alternator and place aside.
- Remove positive battery cable (3)
from clamps (4)

- Unlock and loosen connector (1) .
- Detach sealing cap (2) in direction of arrow.
- Guide out and remove sealing cap (2)
.
- Unfasten nut (1) .
- Feed out the positive battery cable (2)
on the starter motor and place aside.
- Loosen screw (1) .
- Guide out and remove holder (2)
.
- Remove positive battery cable out of the clamp (1) and remove.
