New release tools for electrical contacts All

Situation:  To meet the needs of the variety of connectors and contacts, the existing release tools have been developed further and modified. These new release tools fully satisfy the specifications issued by the manufacturers of contacts and connector housings. This ensures that the contacts can be released correctly and without the risk of damage.

The new release tools will be supplied either as a set in a case or as individual tools.

Current release tools from set 61 1 150 can still be used. For any new or repeat orders, only the new release tools will be supplied.

This Service Information bulletin is structured as follows:

• Enclosure 1:  General technical information on releasing contacts

• Enclosure 3:  Special tools that are no longer listed in the minimum set

Procedure:  Release tools are part of the minimum range of special tools required.

Situation:  With the increase of electronic components (sensors, actuators, control units, etc.), new types of housing and contacts are also used in the vehicles. New release tools are needed to unlock the new contacts correctly (i.e. without causing damage).

The new special tool is stored in the special tool case 61 0 300 (since 09/2005) or in special tool case 61 1 150 (old version supplied until 09/2005).

Procedure:  Release tools are part of the minimum requirement of special tools and are sent to every authorized dealer with a tools agreement.
