Install prop shaft

- Note component's center of gravity.
- Support component using a jack.
- Secure component against falling off the jack.

- Always replace the recessed nut on the rear axle differential. Screw lock must be available.
- Strictly observe a minimum hardening time of three hours after having screwed in the recessed nut. The hardening time may be longer at lower temperatures.

- Do not use the double hexagon head flange nut as counter support.
- Replace recessed nut (1).

- Replace the retaining clip (2) and seal.

- Insert and install the seal with the recessed nut (1).
- Insert and install retaining clip (2).
- Make sure that the recessed nut (1) is screwed on within 5 min.
- Make sure that the minimum
hardening time of the recessed nut of 2 h is observed.
The hardening time must be extended if temperatures are low.
- Insert and install the prop shaft (1).
- It is imperative that you support the prop shaft (1) using a standard jack.
- Hand-tighten the bolts (1).
- Push the prop shaft (2) against the recessed nut (1) up to the stop.
- Screw on the prop shaft (2) by at least 2 threads on to the recessed nut (1) manually.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE

- Secure recessed nut (2) on the transfer box using special tools 0 495 554 (33 5 070) and 0 496 959 (33 0 080) to prevent it from turning
.
The recessed nut (2) on the transfer box must not be used for tightening the prop shaft.
The twelve-edge flange nut (1) may not be used as a counter support.
- Tighten the prop shaft at the front using the special tools 0 495 554 (33 5 070) and 0 496 959 (33 0 080) in the arrow direction
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Prop shaft on transfer box Tightening torque 80Nm - Secure the prop shaft (1) using special tools 0 495 554 (33 5 070) and 0 496 959 (33 0 080) to prevent
it from turning.
- Install the prop shaft and slide in the arrow direction.
- Replace the bolts (arrows).

Rear flexible disc to rear axle final drive M12x1.5 Replace screws. Joining torque 55Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Tighten down screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Central mount to body I Tightening torque 19Nm - Feed out and remove special tool 2 407 851 between the front and rear prop shaft.NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the listed component(s) is/are installed.
- Insert the intake filter housing (5) into the rubber mounts.
- Slide clean air pipe on to the intake filter housing.
- Tighten clamp (4).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Intake filter housing to clean-air pipe cl. tightening torque 3Nm - Connect connector (3) to the hot film air mass meter and lock it audibly.
- Tighten down screw (2).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Intake filter housing to cross connection M6 8Nm - Mount rubber retainer (1) on the intake filter housing.NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the listed component(s) is/are installed.
- Feed in intake port (3) and install.
- Lock the lock (2).
- Tighten nuts (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Intake port on cross connection M6 hexagon nut Tightening torque 8Nm
