Vent the cooling circuit
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Filling without the vacuum Ailing equipment (watering can Ailing) is not permitted .
If this is not observed, there is a risk of component damage or engine damage.
The filling specification must be observed.
It is essential to visually check the vacuum filling equipment before use to check that it is functioning correctly and clean.
It is not permissible to operate the vehicle if the filling procedure has not been fully completed. Otherwise there may be functional limitations (degradation) or overheating.
A bleeding procedure is required after a part has been exchanged in the cooling system and/or after refilling the cooling system.

NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Before starting the automatic cooling system bleeding procedure, make sure that the coolant circuit is filled . If the cooling system bleeding procedure is started while one of the coolant circuits is empty, there is a risk of damage to the electric coolant pump when running it dry.
Ensure that terminal 15 does not fail during the bleeding procedure.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Immobilization period-long fill of coolant!
Do not reuse used coolant.
When replacing and removing components which rely on the corrosion protection effect of the coolant, it is essential to change the coolant. The cooling system must therefore be emptied and refilled.
In the case of other removal work involving the draining of part quantities of coolant, the coolant level must be topped up with new coolant.

In case the cooling system bleeding procedure needs to be carried out again: Detach the ignition key until the vehicle respectively the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) has gone to sleep.

During the cooling system bleeding routine, the electric fan may be activated sporadically.
During the cooling system bleeding routine, the electric fan may be activated sporadically.
- Remove the vacuum filling equipment from the coolant expansion tank.
- Overfill the filling level in the coolant expansion tank up to the upper edge of the coolant expansion tank.
- Close the sealing cap on the coolant expansion tank.
- Close the engine compartment lid.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Make sure that the wheels have ground contact.
- With automatic transmission: Engage selector lever position P (park).
- For manual transmission: Do not engage a gear (idle position).
- Switch on the ignition and make sure that the ignition remains switched on.
- Check that the driving dynamics control is not set to ECO PRO switch position.
- Set the heating to the maximum and the blower to the lowest setting.
- Press the accelerator pedal for at least 10 s to the limit position and while doing so do not press the brake pedal.
- Start engine.
The cooling system bleeding routine starts.
- Observe the display in the instrument cluster:
Service function started.
The engine speed and the actuator in the cooling system are activated for 480 s in accordance with a cooling system bleeding routine.
The cooling system bleeding routine ends 8 min after the engine start.
The engine speed drops to the idle speed level.
- Observe the display in the instrument cluster:
Service function ended.
- Switch off engine.
- Allow the engine to cool down.
- Open the sealing cap of the coolant expansion tank.
- Adjust the fill level in the coolant expansion tank to the maximum mark.
- Close the sealing cap (1) on the coolant expansion tank.
