72 11 033 Removing and installing/replacing front left or right safety belt (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)

WARNING: Read and comply with SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners.
Failure to observe correct procedures can deploy the airbag and cause injuries.
A damaged head airbag must be replaced.
A damaged head airbag is limited in its protective function or can, in extreme cases, no longer perform its protective function.

Installation note: 

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Slide cover (1) on safety belt (2) upwards.

Turn end lining (2) towards rear.

Pull lock washer (1) outwards carefully.

At the same time, feed out end lining (2) towards front.

Remove end lining (2) outwards.

Loosen screws (1) and remove the slide bar.

Remove screw (2).

Put the seat belt guide loop including the seat belt strap to one side.

Unlock and disconnect connector (1).

Remove screw (2).

Remove the seat belt retractor (3) from the guide.

Remove safety belt.

Installation: 

Fit the seat belt retractor.

NOTE: Seat belt retractor unit (3) is coded against incorrect installation.

Parts:  Replace screw (2).

Tighten screw (2).

Tightening torque 72 11 1AZ .

Connect the connector (1).

Install the seat belt guide loop including the seat belt strap.

Tighten screw (2).

Tightening torque 72 11 3AZ .

Install slide bar.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 72 11 4AZ .

Insert strap fitting (2).

Pull the seat belt end fitting (2) in the arrow direction until the lock plate (1) audibly snaps in.

Retaining tab (1) must engage correctly behind the bolt (2).

Attention! 

Malfunction if detent is not correct.

Ask a second person to check the detent (two person principle).

For the correctness of the equipment specification, both people have to document this in the vehicle records.

Slide cover (1) on safety belt (2) downwards.

Attention! 

Perform the concluding check: 

Pull end lining forward, upward and backward.

If the end lining is not correctly engaged, it cannot be turned on the bolt!

Required follow-up work:
