41 14 502 REPLACING REAR LEFT OUTER WHEEL ARCH SECTION WITH REINFORCEMENT (REAR QUARTER PANEL REMOVED) REP-REP-RAF6041-4114502 - V.2 (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)
Follow procedure for REPAIR STAGE 3 .
Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .
For stripping and rebuilding operations, refer to surrounding texts on KSD (FRU number 41 14 502).
Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific PROCEDURE .
Use only an approved SPOT WELDER for repairs!
Following new body parts are required (see Electronic Parts Catalog):
- (1) Outer wheel arch section
- (2) End plate, outer wheel arch section
- (3) End plate, inner wheel arch section
- (4) Middle side frame
- Shaped part, C-pillar inner
- Shaped part, C-pillar, outer
Removal
Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with dimension and cut.
Mark separating cuts (2) in accordance with the figure and cut off.
Dimension a = approx. 55 mm from previous separation cut.
Remove cavity acoustic baffle (3).
Detach welded connections in areas (4) and remove reinforcements on C-pillar.
Open welded connections in area (1).
Remove cavity sealing (1).
Open welded connections in areas (2).
LOOSEN spot-welded adhesive joints in area (3).
Remove outer section of wheel arch.
New part preparation
Mark and make severance cuts on reinforcement for C-pillar (new side frame center part) as per severance cuts on vehicle.
Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATES at severance cuts.
Remove adhesive residues in the area (1).
Prepare new parts for joining through welding and adapt in combination with side panel.
Installation
Install new part and weld in areas (1).
Apply sealant to new CAVITY SEALING . Install cavity sealing (2).
Weld new part in the areas (1).
Install new part and reinforcement plates and weld in areas (1).
Apply sealant to new cavity acoustic baffle. Install cavity sealing (2).
