51 31 221 Removing and installing/replacing rear window (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)

- GENERAL PROCEDURE for dismantling/installation of affixed window glass
The following new parts/CONSUMABLES are required (sourcing reference BMW Group parts sales).

Do not allow any adhesive to come into contact with the connecting contacts of the heated rear window/antenna.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove LOWER COVER ON REAR WINDOW .
- Remove TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .
- Remove REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR .
- Remove REAR SPOILER LOWER PART .
Removal:
Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
Release screws (2) on left/right.
Secure cable to rear window with adhesive tape.
Tape off body in area of piercing point with fabric adhesive tape.
Slide string out of SPIDER at line (1) through adhesive bead.
Cut the side window out.
Installation:
Lining spacer buffers:
Remove damaged spacer buffer completely.
Bond new spacer buffers on old marks.
Overview of rear window bonding:

| h [mm] = Height adhesive bead | 12 ± 1 |
Mount retaining strip (1) on side window.
A tolerance band is printed on the ceramic (two dashed lines) that marks the position of the adhesive bead. Place adhesive bead centrally on tolerance band.
Bead joint must be located in area (A).
Make sure trunk lid is fully closed.
Carefully working on rear window with suction lifter:
- Position at bottom on trunk lid
- Align sides evenly
- insert at top and press down
- secure vertically with yellow plastic adhesive tape
Connect plug connections (1).
Tighten screws (2) on left/right.
Required follow-up work:
- Mount LOWER PART OF REAR SPOILER .
- Mount REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR .
- Mount TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .
- Mount LOWER COVER ON REAR WINDOW .
