Remove side window glass (replacement)

Preliminary work 

• Refer to REMOVE THE STRIP ON THE BOTTOM REAR SIDE WINDOW GLASS .
• Refer to REMOVING LEFT OR RIGHT C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
• Refer to REMOVING LEFT OR RIGHT D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
• Refer to REMOVING THE TRIM FROM THE SIDE WINDOW GLASS ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT .

• Use the cord feeder tool (1) to punch the separating cord (2) as shown through the adhesive bead and pull it out.

• Attach the Spider separating device (1) as shown.

• Secure the anchor suction cup (1) as shown.

  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  Secure component against falling.
• Route the separating cord (1) around in clockwise direction at the adhesive area of the side window glass behind the seals and secure it with the knurled screw of the anchor suction cup.
• Separate the side window glass with the Spider.
  NOTE: The tool must be repositioned repeatedly to prevent damage on the vehicle and the tool!

  • Protect working area.
  • Handle tools and components carefully.
• Remove the adhesive bead (1) with a scraper.

  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  Bonding surfaces must be dry and free of dust and grease. After the adhesive area has been cleaned, it must no longer be taped with bare hands.
• If necessary, remove the protruding centering pin and replace damaged Velcro fastener (Dual Lock tape).
• Clean bonding surfaces.
• Apply the adhesive bead.
  NOTE: During the application of the adhesive bead, make sure that the distance to the D-pillar trim panel is sufficient to prevent bonding of the trim panel.
• For reuse of the side window glass, apply the adhesive bead to the cut back adhesive bead of the side window glass.
• For use of a new side window glass, apply the adhesive bead on the cut back adhesive bead of the body.
