51 24 300 Remove and install or replace left or right gas spring for trunk lid (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)

WARNING: Injury hazard!
Support trunk lid in fully opened position with suitable apparatus.

REMOVAL:

Make a written record of the alignment of the gas pressure support(s) before removing.

Slide retaining spring (1) to end of gas spring (2) and lever out gas spring (2) from holder.

Repeat procedure at other end of gas spring (2) and remove gas spring (2).

INSTALLATION:

Slide retaining spring (1) back into initial position.

Press gas spring (2) on top and bottom end onto mountings on vehicle.

Gas spring (2) must be felt to engage.
