41 21 682 Replacing Left B-Pillar Reinforcement (Rear Quarter Panel Removed) Rep-Rep-RAF5641-4121682 - V.1 (Cooper 2-Door Hatchback, 2020-2023)

Procedure OBSERVE repair stage 3!

Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .

For stripping and rigging operations, refer to texts on KSD CD (job number 41 21 682).

Use only approved SPOT WELDER for repairs.

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Following new body parts are required (see Electronic Parts Catalog):

(1) Middle side frame
(2) B-pillar cover
(3) US version only: B-pillar center reinforcement
Shaped part, B-pillar, top
Shaped part B-pillar, outer
Shaped part, B-pillar, inner

Removal:

Open welded connections in areas (1).

Remove B-pillar cover (2).

Remove cavity sealing, B-pillar, top (3).

Mark severance cuts in accordance with specified dimensions and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut only outer plates.

Dimension a = approx. 220 mm below 15x17 mm-Ø hole.

Dimension b = approx. 35 mm behind 18 mm-Ø hole.

Open welded connections in areas (1).

US version only Open welded connections in areas (2).

Remove cavity sealing (1).

Open welded connections in areas (2).

Remove B-pillar reinforcement.

US version only Mark severance cut (1) as pictured and cut.

Open welded connections in areas (2).

Remove B-pillar center reinforcement (3).

Remove cavity sealing (1).

Release welded connections in areas (2) and remove connection (3).

New part preparation

Mark severance cuts on new part in accordance with severance cuts on vehicle and cut.

Remove superfluous components from new part.

For severance cuts, prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATES .

Prepare welded connection (1) for plug-welding.

Adjust new part and reinforcement plates with alignment bracket or universal fixture.

NOTE: The welded connection (1) is made from within the passenger compartment.
When adjusting, due to the absence of a side panel it is necessary to place a panel of equal thickness in the area of the driver's door striker.

US version only Prepare new parts in areas (1) for plug-welding.

Installation:

US version only Install B-pillar center reinforcement (3) with reinforcement plate and weld in areas (1) and (2).

Apply sealant to B-pillar CAVITY SEALING . Install cavity sealing in B-pillar reinforcement.

Install B-pillar reinforcement and reinforcement plates with alignment bracket or universal fixture.

When adjusting, due to the absence of a side panel it is necessary to place a panel of equal thickness in the area of the lock striker.

Weld new part in the areas (1).

US version only Weld new parts in areas (1).

Apply sealing compound to cavity sealing (3). Install cavity sealing.
