61 31 068 Removing and installing/replacing switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (Cooper 4-door hatchback and 2-door hatchback, 2020-2023)

WARNING: Observe safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnic belt tensioners.
Failure to observe correct procedures can deploy the airbag and cause injuries.

Preliminary work needed:

Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE .
REMOVING SIDE COVER ON DASHBOARD ON RIGHT .

Removal:

Unlock both detents on switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (1).

Remove the switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (1) from the cover (2).

Installation:

Join the switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (1) and the cover (2).

NOTE: Make sure the switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (1) is correctly positioned and has engaged with the detents of the cover (2).

Required follow-up work:

Install SIDE COVER ON DASHBOARD, RIGHT .
Connect NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE .
