TECHNICAL INFORMATION
With the ignition off and the high-voltage safety plug disconnected, the Check Control message "High voltage system faulty" is displayed by default.
The message "High-voltage system switched off" (absence of voltage) is only displayed when the ignition is switched on.

Preliminary work

Precondition
Ignition is switched off.
WARNING:
Deactivate the 12-V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no battery charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- For vehicles with additional electrical systems (48 V electrical system, high-voltage vehicle electrical system), this absolutely must be deactivated before the vehicle battery is disconnected.

- Remove the seal (1).
- Release cap nuts (1).
- Open locks (2) by turning to the left.
- Remove the windshield panel cover (3).
- Unlock the connector (3) on the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) and disconnect it.
- Slacken nut (1).NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
- Remove battery ground lead (2).
- Place the negative battery cable (2) laterally and fix in such a way that it is prevented from short circuiting.
