51 22 225 Removing and installing/replacing inside door opener of rear left or right door (Cooper 4-door hatchback models, 2020-2023)

Preliminary work needed:

Remove rear TRIM
Remove BOWDEN CABLE FOR DOOR OPENER .

NOTE: Door opener is welded to door trim panel only on initial installation. During second installation, the door opener is secured by means of lock washers. If necessary, release lock washers instead of welding spots.

Removal:

Release catches (1).

Remove cover (2) from outside.

Drill out welding spots (1) on door opener (2) by means of weld spot drill bit.

Remove door opener (2).

Installation:

Insert new door opener (1).

Secure all welding pins (2) by means of lock washers (3).

Check door opener (1) is positioned correctly.

Insert the trim (2) from outside and clip into detents (1).

Required follow-up work:

Attach BOWDEN CABLE FOR DOOR OPENER .
Install rear TRIM .
