51 44 011 Removing and installing or replacing headlining (with sliding/tilting sunroof) (Cooper 2-door hatchback models, 2020-2023)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove right A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL  left and right
• Remove all sun visors and counter supports. Refer to 51 16 085 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SUN VISOR AND COUNTER SUPPORT ON DRIVER'S SIDE (SIDE) (COOPER 4-DOOR HATCHBACK AND COOPER 2-DOOR HATCHBACK, 2020-2023) and 51 16 080 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING SUN VISOR AND LEFT OR RIGHT COUNTER SUPPORT (COOPER 4-DOOR HATCHBACK AND COOPER 2-DOOR HATCHBACK, 2020-2023) .
• Remove the ROOF OPERATING UNIT .
• Remove FRONT ROOFLINER COVER .
• Remove TRIM PANELS FOR BODY PILLAR .
• Remove front/rear GRAB HANDLES .
• Remove REAR HEADLINER TRIM .
• Remove left/right C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
• Complete removal only: 
• Remove WINDSHIELD .

REMOVAL: 

Lift off cover (1).

Unlock clamp (2) with long-nose pliers (3) and remove coat hook.

Slide driver's seat fully forwards and fold back backrest.

Slide front passenger seat fully forwards and fold back backrest.

Release expanding rivets (1 and 2).

Release edge protection in area of headlining.

Lay headlining (3) downwards.

If removing completely:

Feed out headlining (3) over windshield opening with the aid of a second person.

INSTALLATION: 

Bring headlining (3) into installation position.

Mount expanding rivets (1 and 2).

Engage coat hook (1) and mount cover (2).

Required follow-up work: 

• Mount WINDSHIELD .
• Remove left/right A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
• Mount all sun visors and counter supports. Refer to 51 16 085 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SUN VISOR AND COUNTER SUPPORT ON DRIVER'S SIDE (SIDE) (COOPER 4-DOOR HATCHBACK AND COOPER 2-DOOR HATCHBACK, 2020-2023) and 51 16 080 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING SUN VISOR AND LEFT OR RIGHT COUNTER SUPPORT (COOPER 4-DOOR HATCHBACK AND COOPER 2-DOOR HATCHBACK, 2020-2023) .
• Mount ROOF OPERATING UNIT .
• Mount FRONT HEADLINER TRIM .
• Mount TRIM PANELS FOR BODY PILLAR .
• Mount GRAB HANDLES .
• Mount REAR ROOFLINER COVER .
• Remove left/right C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
