51 32 154 Adjusting left or right front side window (Cooper 2-door hatchback models, 2020-2023)

Special tools required: 

• 51 0 341 
• 51 0 342 
• 2 351 398 
• 2 304 553 
• 51 3 240 

Configuring the correct setting will fulfill the following properties: 

• Seal against water ingress
• No wind noise
• No rattling
• No unintentional reversing of side window during closing operation (anti-trap safety function)

Prerequisites for correct adjustment: 

• Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level
• FRONT DOOR correctly adjusted to fit
• Charge BATTERY .

  (Full operability of the power windows during the adjustment procedure is only assured with an external power supply)

Attention! 

When closing, the door window glass must not jam on the trim strip in any area of the window (window glass breakage).

When performing measurement and adjustment work, do not slam the door (window pane may shatter).

Observe the checking and adjustment sequence!

1. Door window glass preload
2. Door window glass retraction depth/longitudinal direction

1. Preload 
   1. 1.1 Preparations 

      Open door; shift door window pane into uppermost position, if necessary.

      Insert special tool 51 0 341  in rotary striker of door lock and manually lock rotary striker (short lift activation).

      Close the door carefully up to the point where the special tool 51 0 341  magnetically adheres to the striker (defined door opening angle for measurement).

   2. 1.2 Preload ideal setting 
      NOTE: No force must be exerted on the door or door window pane during measurement.

      Bring special tool 51 0 342  into contact with window guide gasket (1) and door window (2).

      Determine dimension for preload between window guide gasket (1) and outer edge of door window (2).

      Dimension = 30 ±1 mm

   3. 1.3 Adjust preload 

      Open door and remove sealing cap on door window frame.

      Thread in special tool 2 351 398  into door and position on nut (1) and guide (2).

      Slacken nut (1) with knob (3).

      Turn lever (4) to adjust preload and tighten nut (1).

      Tightening torque 51 33 1AZ .

      Check setting, repeat process if necessary.

      Remove special tool 51 0 341  from rotary striker of door lock.

2. Retraction depth/longitudinal direction 
   1. 2.1 Retraction depth/longitudinal direction ideal setting 

      Open door.

      Connect special tool 2 304 553  to measuring points (A to C) on side window.

      Close door.

      Measure longitudinal direction (A) and retraction depth (B and C) (next work operation).

      C	4.7 ±1 mm	Approx. 100 mm in front of outer edge of door window glass

      IMPORTANT: Door must open and close without the door window glass taping the roof trim strip (risk of damage).
      NOTE: Special tool 2 304 553  rest against edge of side window without play for each measurement.
      To correctly determine the dimension, transfer edge of profile seal (1) with special tool 51 0 342  to scale perpendicular to special tool 2 304 553  .

   2. 2.2 Longitudinal direction ideal setting 

      Measure distance (x) in area (D and E) from door window glass (1) to side window (2) with special tool 51 0 342  .

      D	10 ± 2.5 mm	Approx. 30 mm from trim strip at top
      E	10 ± 2.5 mm	Approx. 30 mm from trim strip at bottom
      Parallelism deviation maximum 1.5 mm

   3. 2.3. Adjust retraction depth/longitudinal direction 

      Remove WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP on outside of front door.

Attach siphon to center of side window.

Slacken multipoint head cap screws (1) 51 3 240  with special tool until door window glass can just be shifted with little effort with suction lifter.

Adjust longitudinal direction and retraction depth of door window glass.

Tighten multipoint screws (1) using special tool 51 3 240  .

Tightening torque 51 33 2AZ .

Check setting, repeat process if necessary.
