51 24 105 Removing and installing/replacing tailgate lock (Cooper 4-door hatchback and Cooper 2-door hatchback, 2020-2023)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .

REMOVAL: 

Unscrew the screws (1).

Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.

Remove tailgate lock (2).

INSTALLATION: 

Replacement: 

Cut through the cable (1) along the dotted line and feed out from the cover cap (2).

The cable (1) is no longer needed and can be disposed of.

Check whether a cover cap (1) is installed on the tailgate lock (2) and retrofit if required.

Position the cover cap (1) as shown and engage it at the tailgate lock (2).

A missing cover cap can lead to failure of the tailgate locks.

Connect associated plug connections.

Position tailgate lock (2).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 24 1AZ .
