The wiper arm must not tap the windshield or the rear window without a wiper blade. Otherwise the windshield or the rear window could be damaged.

In the event of a customer complaint regarding the cleaning or wiping performance or noise generation (windshield wiper judder, squeaking) by the wiper blades, proceed as follows:
Check whether the customer complaint is caused by contamination (preservation wax in new vehicles, tree resin or other environmental influences) on the windshield. If necessary, thoroughly clean the windshield.
Replace the wiper blades if cleaning the windshield fails to remedy the situation.

RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the wiper console.
If the wiper arm is removed without a special tool, the wiper console can break.

- Only remove the wiper arm with the described special tool.
- Do not lever off the wiper arm, as otherwise the wiper console can break at the predetermined breaking point for active pedestrian protection.
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Pull off protective cap (1).
- Loosen nut (2).
- Detach wiper arm (1) with special tool 0 495 805 (61 6 130) .
