65 11 080 Removing and installing (replacing) radio (Cooper 4-door hatchback and Cooper 2-door hatchback, 2020-2023)

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 327 

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove dashboard cover. Refer to 51 45 435 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACE) THE COVER FOR THE INSTRUMENTS (UNTIL 10/2014) (Cooper 4-door hatchback and Cooper 2-door hatchback, 2020-2023) .

Removal: 

Unclip and remove the trim (1) with the special tool 00 9 327  toward the top.

Unscrew the screws (1).

When replacing on the equipment specification with chrome trim (3) for vehicles with a production date up to 07/2015: 

Chrome trim (3) must be unmounted from the used part on the new part.

If the chrome trim (3) is faulty, it can be ordered individually from the applicable BMW parts catalogue.

Cover the area (1) with adhesive tape.

In case of reuse of the trim (3) cover area (2).

Lift trim (3) on the point marked with the arrow carefully with the appropriate tool.

Lift and remove the trim (3) over the complete length carefully.

Mount removed trim (3) on the new part.

Unlock lock (1) with screwdriver in arrow direction and at the same time pull central instrument towards passenger compartment.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Remove the central instrument with the radio (2).

Replacement: 

Loosen screws (1).

Remove the radio (2) from the central instrument (3).

Installation: 

Replacement: 

Properly position the radio (2) on the central instrument (3).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 65 11 1AZ .

Connect and lock the plug connections (1) on the central instrument with radio (2).

Press detent (1) on central instrument (3) on left and right in arrow direction.

Detent (1) must engage on left and right behind IHKA controls (2).

Press on central instrument at top on dashboard and engage.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 65 11 2AZ .

Engage cover (1) correctly in dashboard (2).

Required reworking:
