Removing and installing/replacing idler pulley for drive belt (B48 and B46 engine) (Cooper S and John Cooper Works)

Special tools required:

• 11 0 070
• 2 467 345

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove DRIVE BELT .

Removal: 

Prepare the workshop 2 220 718.

Prepare special tool 11 0 070.

Prepare standard pliers (1).

Remove idler pulley using the tools shown.

Attach special tool 11 0 070 to workshop crane.

Attach the special tool 11 0 070 to the lifting eye.

Adjust the workshop crane until the special tool 11 0 070 is positioned.

Loosen screws (1).

Remove lid (1) using the pliers (2) shown.

Position special tool 2 467 345 on the screw (1).

Remove the screw (1) using the tools shown.

Release idler pulley (1) in direction of arrow.

Guide out and remove the idler pulley (1).

Installation: 

Feed in and position idler pulley (1).

Attach idler pulley (1) hand-tight in direction of arrow.

Tighten the screw (1) using the tools shown.

Tightening torque 11 28 3AZ .

Mount end cover (1).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ .

Adjust the workshop crane until the special tool 11 0 070 is slackened.

Detach the special tool 11 0 070 from the lifting eye.
