Replacing drive belt for alternator (B36 engine) (Cooper base)
Attention!
Risk of damage to the vibration absorber if the exact installation position is not observed.
Running the engine without a drive belt is not permitted.
Attention!
Check the drive belt for coolant and oil residue and replace if necessary.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove RIGHT CHARGE-AIR DUCT .
Removal:
Release expanding rivet (1).
Remove acoustic cover (2) towards bottom.
Safety instructions:
- Injury hazard when tensioning or releasing the drive belt.
Turn belt tensioner (1) in arrow direction at bolt (2) with a suitable tool and hold in position.
Remove drive belt (3).
Slowly relieve tension on belt tensioner.
Installation:

- Injury hazard when tensioning or releasing the drive belt.
Turn belt tensioner (1) in arrow direction at bolt (2) with a suitable tool and hold in position.
Position drive belt (3).
Slowly relieve tension on belt tensioner.
Install acoustic cover (2) from below.
Fasten the expanding rivet (1).
Required follow-up work:
- Install the RIGHT CHARGE AIR DUCT .
