- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).
- For additional information see: 61 35... NOTES ON ESD (ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE) PROTECTION .
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Rattling noises in the engine compartment are caused due to increased play in the linkage of the wastegate valve controller.
To eliminate the rattling noises, a repair kit 5A7A286 for the wastegate linkage with a modified spring and an additional spacer sleeve can be ordered from the applicable BMW parts catalogue.
It is not necessary to replace the entire electrical wastegate valve controller .

- Have the special tool 2 469 240
ready.
- Close the exhaust turbocharger (2) with standard tools (1).
- Unlock and loosen connector (1).
- Release the color (2) using commercially available tools.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The adjustment nuts must be locked using 2 open-end wrenches. If only one open-end wrench is used, there is a risk of the electrical controller drive being damaged. - Counter support the nut (1) with an open-end spanner (3).
- Release the nut (2) with an open-end spanner (4).
- Thread out the nut (1) and remove.
- Feed the lever (1) of the wastegate valve carefully
in the arrow direction out from the control rod (2) of the electrical wastegate valve controller and set aside.
Any effect of lateral force on the control rod (2) of the electrical wastegate valve controller must be avoided.
- Unscrew and thread out nuts (1) of the wastegate valve carefully
- Loosen screws (1).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Feed out the electrical wastegate valve controller (1) without
the heat shield (2) in the arrow direction carefully from the bore of the compressor housing (3) and remove it.
- Check whether heat shield 1 is seated firmly on compressor housing 2.
- If the heat shield is loose, the exhaust turbocharger must be replaced.
