Removing and installing/replacing disengagement module (GS6-60DA, GS6X60BA/DA) (Cooper ALL4)

Preliminary work needed:

Do not disassemble the release module.

Removal:

Release bearing (1) and release lever (2) have been combined to form a single release module.

Do not grease sliding surfaces.

Remove/detach bellows (1).

Squeeze together retaining lugs (1) of plastic cage and remove disengagement module (2).

Pull plastic cage (1) off of ball hub.

Install the plastic cage in the release lever before reinstalling the disengagement module.

Preparation for installation:

Replace the ball hub, plastic cage, bellows and guide sleeve upon replacing the disengagement module.

Clean all sliding surfaces on release bearing.

Check for damage and replace if necessary.

Do not grease release bearing.

Installation:

Lightly grease ball hub (1).

Grease:

Lubricant MI-Setral-43 N, BMW part number 83 23 2 152 082

Only during replacement of disengagement module:

Remove/replace ball hub (1).

Tightening torque 21 51 1AZ .

Lightly grease ball hub.

Only during replacement of disengagement module:

Loosen screws (1).

Replace guide sleeve.

Install disengagement module (1).

Plastic cage must noticeably and audibly engage on the ball hub.

Install bellows (1).

To simplify installation, use water with low surface tension (dish soap).

Ensure that the sealing lip is positioned correctly.
