Removing and installing/replacing radial shaft seal for gearshift shaft (AISIN GA6F21AW) (Cooper Clubman base FWD)

Special tools required: 

• 24 4 290

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove THROTTLE VALVE ASSEMBLY .
• Remove the EGS CONTROL UNIT .

Removal: 

Lever out sealing ring (1) with a screwdriver.

The surfaces of the sealing ring making contact with the gearshift shaft and the transmission must not be damaged.

Installation: 

Coat sealing lips of new radial shaft seal with clean transmission oil.

Drive in radial shaft seal with special tool 24 4 290 until it stops.

Required follow-up work: 

• Install the EGS CONTROL UNIT .
• Install THROTTLE BODY .
