Replacing the transmission exhaust fan (8-speed, AISIN GA8F22AW) (Cooper Clubman base AWD, Cooper Clubman S, Cooper Clubman JCW)

IMPORTANT:

Check exhaust fan for completeness after removal.
Broken-off exhaust fan retaining lugs will result in serious damage to and failure of the automatic transmission.

Preliminary work needed:

Removal:

Unscrew the screws (1).

Release battery partition wall (2) from holder and remove.

Release control unit (3) from holder.

Detach wiring harness (4) from battery tray (5).

Remove battery tray (5).

Remove screw (1).

Pull the exhaust fan (2) out of the exhaust fan line (3).

Installation:

Press the exhaust fan (2) into the exhaust fan line (3) up to the stop.

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 24 00 3AZ .

Install battery tray (5).

Tighten down screws (1).

Install wiring harness (4) on battery tray (5).

Insert control unit (3) in holder.

Insert partition wall (2) in holder.
