Replacing the transmission exhaust fan (6-speed, AISIN GA6F21AW) (Cooper Clubman base FWD)

Attention!

Check exhaust fan for completeness after removal.
Broken-off exhaust fan retaining lugs will result in serious damage to and failure of the automatic transmission.
Never pull off the venting line at the transmission!

Preliminary work needed:

Removal:

Unscrew the screws (1).

Release vehicle battery partition wall (2) from holder and remove.

Release control unit (3) from holder.

Detach wiring harness (4) from battery tray (5).

Remove battery tray (5).

Unscrew the screws (2).

Pull the exhaust fan (1) out of the exhaust fan line (3).

NOTE: For vehicles from 01/2017 onwards, the bottom holder is not installed.

For vehicles up to 01/2017, the bottom holder (e.g. in the event of damage or loss) can be omitted and need not be installed.

Installation:

Press the exhaust fan (1) into the exhaust fan line (3) up to the stop.

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 24 00 3AZ .

NOTE: For vehicles from 01/2017 onwards, the bottom holder is not installed.

For vehicles up to 01/2017, the bottom holder (e.g. in the event of damage or loss) can be omitted and need not be installed.

Install battery tray (5).

Tighten down screws (1).

Install wiring harness (4) on battery tray (5).

Insert control unit (3) in holder.

Insert vehicle battery partition wall (2) in holder.
