Removing and installing/replacing EDC control unit (SAS control unit) (Cooper)

NOTE: The optional equipment system (SAS) is a control unit in which the functions of the suspension control systems and the assist systems are integrated.

(In the AW System and in the applicable BMW Electronic Parts Catalog, the control unit is under Main Group 34.)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with NOTES
on protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD protection)!

Preliminary work needed:

Disconnect BATTERY GROUND LEAD .
Remove right trunk WHEEL ARCH PANEL .

Removal:

Loosen screws (2).

Unlock and disconnect plugs (1).

Remove SAS control unit (3).

Installation:

Connect and lock connector (1).

Position SAS control unit (3).

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 37 14 6AZ .

Required follow-up work:

Install right trunk WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
Connect BATTERY GROUND LEAD .
Replacement only: Perform the PROGRAMMING/CODING .
