41 14 505 Replacing rear left outer wheel arch section (rear quarter panel removed)

Follow procedure for REPAIR STAGE 2 !

The following new parts are required:

  1. Rear outer wheel arch section
  2. Fig 1: Rear Left Outer Wheel Arch Section

The following CONSUMABLES  are required:

Material Quantity
Adhesive K5a 1
Blind rivet N3 11
Cleaning agent R1 1
Cavity sealing wax remover 1
Sealant D1  

Removal: 

NOTE: The cavity sealing (1) is reused.

Release and raise the cavity sealing (1) in area (2) of the severance cut (4).

Open welded connections in area (3).

Mark severance cut (4) as pictured and cut.

Remove part of the outer wheel arch section.

Preparation of new part: 

Mark severance cut on new part according to severance cut on vehicle + 20 mm material extra and cut.

Adjust new parts in combination with side wall to fit and secure.

In the area (1) of the bonding surface, drill 11 4.2 mm dia. bores for blind rivets.

Remove new part and deburr holes.

NOTE: In area (2), the new part is only joined with the bonding method. No riveting.
IMPORTANT: Do not grind/sand new part in area of bonding surfaces.

Installation: 

Clean all  bonding surfaces on new part and on vehicle with cleaning agent R1.

Apply adhesive to bonding surface (1).

Install the new part and rivet with a blind rivet N3 in the area (1).

NOTE: First, directly before installing the side wall: Apply the sealant on the loosened area (2) of the CAVITY SEALING  (3).
