11 65 300 Removing and installing/replacing electrical controller drive for wastegate valve
Special tools required:
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down!
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove front right WHEEL ARCH COVER
- Remove CLEAN AIR PIPE
Removal:
Unlock the connector (1) on the electrical controller drive and pull off.
Undo retaining clip (1).
Replace the retaining clip (1).
Parts: retaining clip.
Use the retaining clip from the repair kit.
Release the screws (1) from the top.
Replace screws (1).
Parts: screws .
Use the screws from the repair kit.
Release the screws (1) from the bottom.
Replace screws (1).
Parts: screws .
Use the screws from the repair kit.
Risk of damage to the electrical controller drive!
Hold electrical controller drive during disassembly and installation only at the housing (1) and at the coupling rod (2) and move.
Lateral forces on the control rod are not permitted and must be avoided!
Detach electrical controller drive (1) from the wastegate valve (2) in the marked area.
Installation:
Risk of damage to the electrical controller drive!
Hold electrical controller drive during disassembly and installation only at the housing (1) and at the coupling rod (2) and move.
Lateral forces on the control rod are not permitted and must be avoided!
Install the electrical controller drive (1) and attach to the wastegate valve (2) in the highlighted area (arrow).
Use the new screws (1) from the repair kit .
Insert bolts (1).
Check the control linkage for play and ease of movement on the pin of the wastegate lever.
Tighten screws (1) from the top with special tool 11 4 350 .
Tightening torque 11 65 1AZ .
Use the new screws (1) from the repair kit .
Insert bolts (1).
Check the control linkage for play and ease of movement on the pin of the wastegate lever.
Tighten screws (1) from below with special tool 11 4 350 .
Tightening torque 11 65 1AZ .
Mount retaining clip (1).
Use the new retaining clip (1) from the repair kit .
Check: visual inspection.
Make sure that the new retaining clip (1) has correctly locked in the groove at the pin.
Connect and lock the connector at the electrical controller drive.
Make sure the connector (1) engages audibly.
Basic setting of the wastegate linkage can only be checked or adjusted through diagnosis.
Loosen retaining clips (1).
Fix rod with a size 18 open-end spanner (2) and hold.
Loosen counter nuts with a size 10 open-end spanner (1).
Remove coupling rod (1).
Setting possible only in 360-degree steps
Shorten adjustment travel/twist rods together (-).
Increase adjustment travel/twist rods apart (+).
One full turn of the adjusting nut corresponds to an adjustment travel of 0.75 mm .
Example 1:
Actual value measured by the diagnostic function: +0.75 mm .
Required correction: +0.75 mm: : 0.75 mm = +1 turns (apart).
Twist rods (1) apart by 1 turn.
Reposition counter nut and tighten with 6 Nm.
Example 2:
Actual value measured by the diagnostic function: -1.5 mm .
Required correction: -1.5 mm: 0.75 mm = -2 turns (together).
Twist rods (1) together by 2 turns.
Tighten counter nut only with mounted fitting aid!
Tightening the counter nut without fitting aid is not permitted!
Mount fitting aid (1) supplied in repair kit.
Fix rod with a size 18 open-end spanner (2) and hold.
Tighten counter nut using a torque wrench and a size 10 open-end spanner insert (3).
Tightening torque 11 65 1AZ .
Disassemble fitting aid (1).
Mount coupling rod (1).
Mount retaining clips (1).
Use new retaining clips (1) from the repair kit .
Check: visual inspection.
Make sure that the new retaining clip (1) engages correctly in the groove on the pin.
