12 14 550 Replacing control unit (DME)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove VEHICLE BATTERY
- Remove LEFT COWL PANEL COVER .
Wire harness connectors must be always plugged in or be properly covered to prevent moisture penetrating into the connector strip on the engine control unit.
Follow instructions for REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF CONTROL UNITS .
It is absolutely essential to read out the fault memory with the MINI diagnosis system and create a fault memory printout.
Replacement:
- Carry out programming/encoding
- If no data can be read out from the previous control unit, carry out injection quantity compensation (description at end of instructions).
Removal:
Release screw (1).
Remove equipment holder (1) from the battery plate in direction of arrow and slightly pull it to the front.
Unclip and remove cover (1).
Unlock and disconnect all connectors (1) on control unit.
Unclip and remove cover (1).
Unlock locks (1) and remove DME control unit (2) in upwards direction.
Installation:
Slide DME control unit (1) into the equipment holder until the locks (2) can be locked.
Install cover (1).
Connect all connectors (1) to control unit.
All connectors (1) must engage audibly.
Installation note:
Connect connectors from front to rear.
Install cover (1).
Insert equipment holder (1) into rear section of battery plate (2) in direction of arrow.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 12 90 1AZ .

- Connect diagnosis system and follow the diagnosis instructions.
