NOTE:

Follow the tire fitting machine manufacturer's operating instructions.

It is absolutely essential to ensure that the equipment is in proper working condition and that there is no damage to the disc wheel and tire.

Balance WHEELS  after completing work.

UHP tire = Ultra High Performance tire

UHP tires are tires with an aspect ratio (H:B) ≤ 45% or tires with a speed index ≥"V".

IMPORTANT:

Applicable training is required for installation and removal work on run-flat tires and/or UHP tires on certified and approved tire fitting machines.

Refer to tire fitting machine manufacturer's instructions for details of the exact fitting procedure.

Use only BMW-approved plastic-covered mounting levers.

Use only BMW-approved tire-fitting paste (Wurth Tire Mounting Paste, part no. 892800).

If tire sealant is used, the installed wheel electronics must be replaced.

NOTE:

Pirelli tires can happen to have two little holes in the tread pattern.

These two holes are production-related.

The presence of these two little holes in the tread pattern does not represent a fault and does not affect the performance and the efficiency of the tires in any way.

NOTE: Pay attention to different tire markings:
  • Position (1)  identification of BMW-approved tires. Ensure that only BMW-approved tires are fitted.
  • Position (2)  RSC is the abbreviation for un-flat ystem Component (runflat tires).
  • Position (3)  Outside means outer side. The tire must be fitted so that the wording Outside is always situated on the outside of the rim.
IMPORTANT:

Many tires are directional!

The arrow on the tire must point in the "Forward" direction of rotation!

Before removal:

  • Maintain tire air temperature of approx. +23°C. Refer to RECOMMENDATION FOR HEATING .
  • Clean wheel/tire unit
  • Remove valve insert (deflate tire)
  • Remove present balance weight

Observe before mounting:

  • Maintain tire air temperature of approx. +23°C. Refer to RECOMMENDATION FOR HEATING .
  • Clean wheel/tire
  • Check wheel rim for burrs, wear and other damage
  • Clean the tire beads and check for evidence of damage.
  • Check the wheel electronics for damage.
  • The aluminium screw valve must be replaced at the disassembly of the wheel electronics.

Filling/inflating tire:

Remove all fitting aids.

IMPORTANT:

Possibilities for safely mounting the wheel or incorporation in inflation apparatus should be utilized.

Observe instructions/conditions of trade association.

Observe national/local regulations!

Inflate with air (without valve insert).

Screw in valve insert and correct the tire pressure.

Observe the notes on the INITIALIZATION  of the tire pressure control (RDC).

IMPORTANT:

Advise the customer to avoid heavy acceleration and heavy braking in the initial period.

The assembly paste can cause the tire to turn on the wheel rim and give rise to imbalance.
