Replacing the radial shaft seal of the drive shaft (GS6-58BG, GS6-59BG/DG)

Special tools required: 

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Release screws (2) and remove guide tube (1).

Drive a hole into radial shaft seal (1) using a center punch.

IMPORTANT: Do not use a drill as shavings may result in transmission malfunction.

Screw in special tool 23 0 490.

Drive out radial shaft seal (1) with impact weight (2).

Installation: 

NOTE: Coat sealing lips of radial shaft seal with transmission oil.

Push the radial shaft seal onto corresponding special tool 23 0 380 and drive it in to the stop.

Check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL and check for leak.

Install guide tube (1) and tighten screws (2).

Tightening torque 23 11 1AZ .

NOTE: After completion of repair work, check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL .

The vehicle must be parked on a level surface in the 095 workshop to check the transmission oil level.

Use only the approved transmission oil: MINI transmission oil MTF 2 or MTF 3.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission!
