54 3(4)... Opening/Closing Convertible Top In Event Of a Technical Fault
1 - Closing the convertible top manually (emergency closing):
Perform the steps on the right and left side, except for where noted otherwise.
Loosen screw (1).
Remove cover (2).
Left side only: Carefully lift the cover (1). Detach the hall effect sensor (2) from the recess (3) of the cover (1).
Loosen screw (1).
Left side only: Raise the convertible top slightly and remove the hall effect sensor (2) from the guide (3).
Loosen screws (1).
RISK OF DAMAGE
Heavy component.
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.
Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
Take hold of the convertible top (1) at both side frames (2) and lift out.
Unclip the cover (1).
Insert the Allen wrench (2) into the drive (3).
Twist the Allen wrench (2) counter-clockwise until the lock on the side frame opens.
Once the lock (1) is open, remove the adapter (2).
Pull the convertible top down and position the lock (1) the stand (2) as you do this.
Twist the Allen wrench clockwise on the drive until the convertible top locks.
Continue to twist the Allen wrench clockwise on the drive until the folding sunroof is closed.
2 - Opening the convertible top manually after emergency closing:
Perform the steps on the right and left side, except for where noted otherwise.
Unclip the cover (1).
Insert the Allen wrench (2) into the drive (3).
Twist the Allen wrench (2) counter-clockwise until the folding sunroof is fully open.

Heavy component.
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.
Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
Take hold of the convertible top (1) at both side frames (2) and place it to the back.
Insert the guide (3).
Left side only: Insert the hall effect sensor (2) into the guide (3).
Tighten down screw (1).
Stowage lock upper section to lower part, tightening torque: 6 Nm.
Insert the cover (2).
Tighten down screw (1).
Cover to stowage lock, tightening torque: 6 Nm.
Left side only: Detach the hall effect sensor (2) from the recess (3) of the cover (1).
Tighten the screws (1).
Tooth segment lever to frame, tightening torque: 12 Nm.
3 - Opening the convertible top manually:
Precondition - Rear left and right side trim panels removed.
Perform the steps on the right and left side, except for where noted otherwise.
On left side only: Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1) . Unclip the connector (2).
Loosen the cable clip (1).
Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Loosen nut (3).
Loosen screws (4).
Remove the holder (5).
If necessary, detach the cable tie on the drive (2).
Loosen screws (1).
Pull out the drive (2).
The drive (2) must be completely pulled out. It is not sufficient to only detach the metal cover on the drive.
If necessary, detach the drive (2) by jogging it.
Detach the connector (1) from the drive (2).
To avoid damage to the connector (1) if the drive is faulty (2) , the detent (3) can be cut away on both sides using a scalpel.
Unclip the cover (1).
Insert the Allen wrench (2) into the drive (3).
Twist the Allen wrench (2) counter-clockwise until the folding sunroof is fully open.
Open the convertible top manually.
