Operating instructions for the universal lifting gear (Cooper Convertible)

1. Description: 
   • Universal lifting gear for the soft top only for workshop operation and not for production
   • Load-carrying capacity: 125 kg
2. Intended use: 
   • For workshop operation for installing and removing the soft top
   • Only perform operations which have been approved and authorized by BMW
3. Properties of the load, including the quality and number of parts that can be turned over all at once: 
   • The soft top must have suitable mounting points for strain and compression element.
   • The contact plates of the support element must, if necessary (depending on model series), be changed in order to adapt them to the shape of the main bearing so as to prevent the support spindle from sliding off.
   • Distance between stain and pressure point min. 60 mm.
4. No transporting above persons: 
   • The use of suspended loads over persons is prohibited! The user must be well versed in handling suspended loads.
5. Testing and inspection: 

• Before start-up:  all retaining bolts must be in place!
• Check the tool before use for visible damage.
• Distance between stain and pressure point min. 60 mm.

Preliminary work needed: 

• Opening tailgate

Removal: 

Unlock soft top.

For this unlock locking lever from the left and right convertible top brace (1).

Installation: 

Remove locking lever of the left and right convertible top brace (1) from the strikers.

Lock soft top.

Required follow-up work: 

• Close rear lid
