Check function of soft top (Cooper Convertible)
Convertible top is centered by tappet (1) during insertion into guide (2) and locked by rotary striker (3).
Carefully close soft top until rotary striker (3) has retracted by approx. 1/3 into striker.
Rotary striker (3) and tappet (1) must close correctly and virtually silently.
If necessary, adjust convertible top.
Open and close soft top at least 3 times.
Conditions for correct folding sunroof functions:
Opening or closing the folding sunroof is exclusively possible in the following conditions:
- Battery voltage is sufficient, if necessary start engine
- Convertible top braces are lowered and locked
- Speed is not higher than 120 km/h
- Outside temperature is between -10°C and +80°C
- Terminal R or terminal 15 active.
- whist the button is pressed
Soft top function conditions:
The following preconditions must be met in order to open or close the convertible top:
- Battery voltage greater than 10.5 V; if necessary, start the engine
- Rear side window glass completely lowered
- Front side window glass slightly lowered
- Convertible top braces are lowered and locked
- Power windows initialized
- Storage shelf engaged in bottom position
- Trunk lid closed
- Speed under 30 km/h
- Ambient temperature between -10°C and +80°C
- Terminal R or terminal 15 active.
- Drive not overheated
- whist the button is pressed
- Vehicle is not in transport mode
Convertible top movement is stopped if the driver's door is opened during an opening or closing operation. This also applies to opening the front passenger door if the softtop is completing the closing operation.
In event of function problems:
- Soft top activation in event of a technical fault
- Troubleshooting
Only start convertible top diagnosis once the functional conditions can be excluded as the fault source.
