Adjusting soft top (Cooper Convertible)
Longitudinal adjustment, main bearing:
Remove the SIDE TRIM PANEL .
Slacken retaining screw (2) (do not release fully).
Insert nuts (1) and screw (3) (soft top must still be movable).
Elongated holes on the mounting plate allow convertible top adjustment in longitudinal direction.
Close and lock soft top.
Soft top is secured and adjusted.
Check GAP DIMENSIONS .
Tighten down retaining screw (2).
Tightening torque 54 34 2AZ.
Tighten down nuts (1).
Tightening torque 54 34 1AZ.
Adjusting the length and height of the convertible top brace bearing:
Remove the left TRUNK WHEEL ARCH TRIM and/or right TRUNK WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
Screw in nuts (1) until contact with screw heads (it must be possible to shift the convertible top brace bearing)
Elongated holes on bow bearing allow longitudinal and vertical adjustment of the soft top.
Close and lock loading aid.
Check GAP DIMENSIONS and if necessary align.
Tighten down nuts (1).
Tightening torque 54 34 4AZ.
Vertical and lateral adjustment, base plate (front struts):
Remove the FRONT TRIM PANEL for the roof pillar.
Slacken screws (1) (do not release fully).
Elongated holes on base plate allow vertical and lateral adjustment of the soft top.
Check GAP DIMENSIONS and if necessary align.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 54 34 3AZ.
Adjusting gap dimension for C-pillar:
Measure gap dimension with feeler gauge (1) between soft top and gasket (window cavity window channel strip).
- At gap 20 mm
- Gap dimension between 0.5 - 2.5 mm
If gap dimension (B) is outside the tolerance, then the trim must be adjusted.
Slacken screws (1)
Shift trim (2) accordingly.
If necessary, repeat process until gap dimension is within the tolerance.
