63 14 015 Removing and installing/replacing side marker lights on rear left or right (Cooper Convertible)

WARNING: Follow instructions for handling LIGHT BULBS (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) .

NOTE: Minimum object temperature of side marker light and wheel arch molding ≥ 18°C.
If this temperature is not achieved, the components must be preheated.

Preliminary work needed:

Partially remove rear WHEEL ARCH COVER .

Removal:

Unlock and disconnect connector.

Carefully preheat side marker light (1) in area (3) using hot air blower and release from wheel arch molding (2) with special tool 00 9 325.

NOTE: Side marker light (1) cannot be reused.

Installation:

Clean bumper cover:

To clean, use a lint-free disposable cloth or a clean cleaning cloth.

Clean bonding surface of wheel arch molding using spirit.

Air drying time at least 1 minute.

Do not grip bonding surface.

Release liner* (1) and lightly press side marker light (2) on wheel arch molding.

* Liner is the protective film on new side marker lights.

Check position and if necessary, realign side marker light (1).

Press side marker light (1) firmly onto wheel arch molding (2).

The minimum contact pressure is achieved by firmly pressing your thumbs or the balls of your hands over the entire bonding surface (3) (holding time approx. 1 second).

Firm thumb pressure approx. 35 N/cm.

Connect connector.

Attach rear WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
