Removing and installing rear (EDC) left or right shock absorber (Cooper Convertible)
Special tools required:
- 2 358 630
Installation note:
- All screws, nuts, bolts and hose clamps removed during the repair must be replaced.
- Retaining elements on chassis and steering parts must be replaced.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove REAR WHEEL .
Removal:
Secure special tool 2 358 630 with wheel studs to drive flange.
Support trailing arm with special tool 2 358 630 and workshop jack on wheel hub.
Release shock absorber (2) from trailing arm by unscrewing screw (1).
Lower workshop jack and relieve coil spring.
Place workshop jack to side.
Release nuts (1) of wheel arch panel.
Bend wheel arch panel to side.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Loosen screws (1).
Remove shock absorber (2).
Installation:
Bend wheel arch panel to side.
Align shock absorber (2) to body.
Part: Replace screws (1).
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 33 52 2AZ .
Connect plug connection (1).
Insert workshop jack into special tool 2 358 630.
Press trailing arm upwards with special tool 2 358 630 until shock absorber can be screwed to trailing arm.
Part: Tighten screw (1).
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 33 52 1AZ .
Lower workshop jack and place to one side.
Remove special tool 2 358 630.
Tighten nuts (1) for wheel arch panel.
Required follow-up work:
- Install REAR WHEEL .
