Adjusting left or right front side window (Cooper Convertible)
Special tools required:
- 2 351 398
- 2 304 553
- 51 0 342
- 2 360 051
Configuring the correct setting will fulfill the following properties:
- Tightness against water ingress
- No wind noise
- No rattling
- No unintentional reversing of the door window glass when closing (crush guard)
Prerequisites for correct adjustment:
- Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level
- Correctly adjusted FRONT DOOR .
- Recharge VEHICLE BATTERY
.
(Full operability of the power electric windows during the adjustment work is only assured with an external voltage supply)
Attention!
When closing, the door window glass must not jam on the trim strip in any area (risk of breakage).
Do not close the door with force during the measuring and adjustment work.
Observe the checking and adjustment sequence!
- Door window glass preload
- Door window glass retraction depth/longitudinal direction
- Preload
- 1.1 Preparations
Shift the door window glass (1) into the top position.
Close the door so far until it engages in the first catch of the rotary striker.
The top of the door window glass (1) must now be slightly taping the seal (2) of the rear side window glass.
- 1.3 Adjust preload:
Open door and remove sealing cap on door window frame.
Thread in special tool 2 351 398 into door and position on nut (1) and guide (2).
Slacken nut (1) with knob (3).
Turn lever (4) to adjust preload and tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 51 33 1AZ .
Check setting, repeat process if necessary.
- 1.1 Preparations
- Retraction depth/longitudinal direction
- 2.1 Retraction depth/longitudinal direction ideal setting
Open door.
Connect special tool 2 304 553 to measuring points (A to C) on side window.
Close door.
Measure longitudinal direction (A) and retraction depth (B and C) (refer to next work operation).
Area Dimension Position of special tool 2 304 553 A 4.0 ±1 mm Center of A-pillar B 5.0 ±1 mm Approx. 35 mm from A-pillar C 6.0 ±1 mm Approx. 35 mm in front of outer edge of door window glass IMPORTANT: The door window glass must correctly run into the gasket.NOTE: Special tool 2 304 553 rest against edge of side window without play for each measurement.
To correctly determine the dimension, transfer edge of profile seal (1) with special tool 51 0 342 to scale perpendicular to special tool 2 304 553.Ideal adjustment, longitudinal direction:
Side window glass (2) must be positioned with dimensions (A) to door window glass (1).
Dimension (A) = 13.5 ± 1 mm.
The door window glass (1) should be as equally high as possible with the seal (3) or the side window glass (2).
Dimension (B) = 0 ±1 mm
Side window glass (2) must demonstrate a parallel gap to the door window glass (1).
- 2.3. Adjust retraction depth/longitudinal direction
Remove the window CHANNEL STRIP on the front door on the outside.
NOTE: Avoid damaging the door window glass and window cavity through tool use.
When adjusting, ensure that all the special tools 2 304 553 continue to tap the edge of the door window glass without any gaps.Attach siphon to center of side window.
Only slacken the multi-tooth screws (1) with the special tool 2 360 051 A until the door window glass with the suction lifter can be shifted with just little effort.
NOTE: Always slacken both multipoint head cap screws to avoid tension in the power window system.Adjust longitudinal direction and retraction depth of door window glass.
Tighten the multipoint screws (1) using the special tool 2 360 051 B.
Tightening torque 51 33 2AZ .
IMPORTANT: Do not release or tighten the multipoint screws via inside of door (disassembled door trim panel).Check setting, repeat process if necessary.
NOTE: Checking break-in-in of door window glass:
Door window glass must strike the inside of the gasket.
