Observe the notes on mounting RSCs
Risk of damage
Damage to the rim
- In order to avoid damage such as pressure points/scratches on the wheel centering, it is recommended that the rim is fixed to the tire mounting machine with a 5-hole clamping flange.
- Observe the following identifications of the tires:
Star 1: Identification of BMW-approved tires. Use only BMW-approved tires.
RSC 2: Identification of RSCs
OUTSIDE 3: Identification of the outer side of the tire. The tires must be mounted with the word OUTSIDE on the outer side of the wheel rim.
- Note that many tires are directional.
The arrow on the tire must point in the "Forward" direction of rotation.
- Note the following with Pirelli tires:
Two small holes (arrows) may be visible in the tire tread.
These holes are production-related and do not indicate a defect. This does not impact the performance and efficiency of the tires in any way.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION If tires are installed on rims without match point, then under unfavorable conditions it can result in so-called radial force variations while driving, which are perceived as vibrations at high speeds. Radial force variations cannot be eliminated by balancing the complete wheel. If match points are lacking, the vibration effects can be minimized using suitable tire installation and/or wheel balancing machines.
- When the tire and the wheel rim have a match point (white dot): Position the match point 1 (on the wheel rim) with the match point 2 (on the tire).
