Replacing a brake pad wear sensor (front) (Cooper Convertible)
If a brake pad wear sensor that has already been ground has to be replaced even though the minimum brake pad thickness has not yet been reached, you must observe the following: The new sliding contact must be filed down with a file to the same length as the sanded sliding contact.
When replacing the brake pad wear sensor, a CBS reset needs to be carried out.
If a brake pad wear sensor was replaceed without replacing the brake pads, the following needs to be paid attention to:
- Carry out service function "CBS correction reset" via BMW diagnostics and information system.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove the front left WHEEL
- Partially detach the front left WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
Removal:
Press clamp (1) together and detach brake pad wear sensor (2) in arrow direction from brake pad.
Detach cable of brake pad wear sensor from holders (2).
Detach the brake pad wear sensor from the holders (1).
Disconnect plug connection (2).
Installation :
Install brake pad wear sensor (1) in the brake pad in arrow direction.
Attach brake pad wear sensor in the holders (2).
Attach brake pad wear sensor in holders (1).
Connect plug connection (2).
Required follow-up work:
- Mount the front left WHEEL ARCH PANEL .
- Mount the WHEEL .
- Reset CBS .
