Removing and installing/replacing flywheel (B48 and B46 engines) (Cooper Clubman S and JCW)

Special tools required:

Preliminary work needed:

Remove transmission. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
- For Cooper Clubman S with FWD and automatic transmission , refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (AISIN F22AW) (COOPER CLUBMAN S FWD)
- For Cooper Clubman S with FWD and manual transmission , refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (GS6-59BG/DG) (COOPER S FWD)
- For Cooper Clubman S with AWD and Cooper Clubman JCW , refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (8-SPEED, AISIN GA8F22AW)(automatic) or REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE TRANSMISSION (GS6X60DA/BA)(manual) .
Vehicles with manual transmission: Remove CLUTCH

REMOVAL:

Manual transmission.

Secure flywheel with transmission bolt (1) and special tool 11 9 811/11 9 265.

Release flywheel bolts using special tool 11 4 180.

Automatic transmission.

Secure flywheel with transmission bolt (1) and special tool 11 9 811/11 9 265.

Unfasten flywheel bolts.

INSTALLATION:

Manual transmission.

Position flywheel (B).

Replace flywheel bolts (1) to (8).

Parts: Flywheel bolts

Screw in the new flywheel bolts by hand using special tool 0 491 018 (11 4 180).

Ensure that the tightening sequence starts with dowel pin (A).

Secure flywheel with transmission bolt (1) and special tool 11 9 811/11 9 265.

Tighten the flywheel bolts using special tool 11 4 180 (note the angle of rotation in the next step).

Tightening torque: 11 22 1AZ .

Mark all flywheel bolts (1) with a vertical line.

Tighten all flywheel bolts (1) at an angle of rotation of 45° using special tool.00 9 120.

Remove special tool 11 9 811/11 9 265.

Automatic transmission.

Position flywheel (B).

Replace flywheel bolts (1) to (8).
