Measuring the internal engine pressure (B48 and B46 engines) (Cooper Clubman S and JCW)
Special tools required:
- 11 9 880
NOTE:
- Follow the diagnosis instruction for pressure testing.
- Check engine oil level.
NOTE:
Create hose piece (1), Ø = 8 x 13 mm, length = 70 mm.
Create hose piece of low pressure line (2), length = 300 mm.
Create hose piece of low pressure line (2), length = 300 mm.
Connect hose piece (1) with low pressure line (2).
Connect low pressure line (2) with the diagnosis connection of the Integrated Measurement Interface Loudspeaker (IMIB).
Connect tube (1) to special tool 11 9 880.
Open oil filler cap.
Insert special tool 11 9 880 hand-tight into oil filler neck opening.
Start engine and run at idle speed.
NOTE:
Order number of the vacuum hose (IMIB accessory) 81 31 2 468 782 (previously: 81 31 2 357 800 or 81 38 2 201 924)
NOTE:
Illustration B47.
Different fault patterns as example:
| 0.97 bar | Ambient pressure. |
| 0.95 bar | Engine internal pressure normal. |
If the deviation is significantly greater than -0.04 bar, the crankcase ventilation system is faulty.
| 0.80 bar | Pressure control valve faulty. |
If the deviation is significantly greater than +0, 04 bar, the crankcase ventilation system is clogged.
| 1.07 bar | Clogged ventilation system, e.g. iced up, contaminated or kinked vent line. |
