Replacing control unit (DME) (Cooper)
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove upper FIREWALL COVER .
- Remove vehicle BATTERY
Replacement:
- Carry out PROGRAMMING/CODING
- If no data can be read out from the previous control unit, carry out injection quantity compensation (description at end of instructions).
Removal:
Unlock the lock (2) and release the cable clip (1) and place to one side.
Release the cable clip (2) from the partition wall (1) and lay to one side.
Feed out partition wall (1) and remove.
Unlock locks (2).
Feed out cover (1) and remove.
Unlock and disconnect plugs (1).
Unlock and disconnect plugs (2).
Unlock and detach all connectors (3) along the direction of the arrow.
Loosen screw (1).
Loosen the equipment holder (2) in the arrow direction from the battery plate and pull it a bit towards the front.
Unlock the locks along the arrow.
Feed out cover (1) and remove.
Unlock locks (1).
Remove the Digital Motor Electronics control unit (2).
Installation:
Insert and install the Digital Motor Electronics control unit (2).
Locks (1) must latch audibly into place.
Feed in and install the cover (1).
The locks must be engaged audibly along the arrows.
Insert and install equipment carrier (2) in the arrow direction into the battery plate.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 12 90 1AZ .
Attach and lock connector (1).
Connect connector (2) and lock.
Connect and lock all connectors (3) along the arrow.
All connectors must audibly engage.
Feed in and install the cover (1).
Lock (2) must snap audibly into place.
Feed in partition wall (1) and install.
Attach the cable clip (2) to the cover (1).
Feed in the cable clip (1) and lock it in the lock (2).
Attention!
If the DME control unit has been replaced, it will also be necessary to reset the minimum quantity adjustment of the injectors!
