Replacing Center Tail Panel Outer Section (Cooper Clubman F54)

Observe procedure of REPAIR STAGE 2 !

STRIP DOWN VEHICLE .

Following new body parts are required (see applicable BMW Parts Catalog):

1. Tail cowling

Blind rivet N3	12
Punch rivet N4	22
EMC screw	3
Cavity sealing wax remover
Cleaning agent R1	1
Sealant D1

Removal: 

Operation is described on the left side. Right side identical.

Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with dimension and cut.

Dimension a = 55 millimeter from the recess of the side member.

Open welded connections in areas (2).

Preparation of new part: 

Mark severance cuts on new part in accordance with severance cuts on vehicle + 15 mm extra material and cut.

Adjust tail cowling in combination with trunk lid and rear lamps and secure.

In areas (1) and (2), drill 0 4.2 mm bores for blind rivet.

Remove new part and deburr holes.

Installation: 

Clean all bonding surfaces on new part and on vehicle with cleaning agent R1.

Apply adhesive to bonding surfaces.

Install tail cowling and rivet with blind rivet N3.

In areas (1) and (2), rivet tail cowling with punch rivet N4.

After harden of adhesive in area (1), install a total of 3 EMC SCREWS .
