Replacing bulb socket for left or right tail light (split door) (Cooper)

WARNING: Follow INSTRUCTIONS for handling light bulbs (exterior lighting).

Removal:

Unclip cover (1).

Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).

Release locks and the bulb sockets (2) from the tail light.

Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).

Release access lines (2) from holders.

Release locks and the bulb sockets (3) from the tail light.

Replacement:

Carefully press bulb (2; 3) into bulb socket (4) and turn counterclockwise.

Then pull out bulb (2; 3) from bulb socket (4).

Carefully take bulb (1) out of bulb socket (4).

Carefully take bulb (1) out of bulb socket (3).

Carefully press bulb (2) into bulb socket (3) and turn counterclockwise.

Then take bulb (2) out of bulb socket (3).

Installation:

Insert bulb socket (3) in tail light.

Connect the connector (1).

Clip access line (2) into the holders.

NOTE: Ensure bulb socket is correctly locked (3) and fitted in tail light.

Installation note:

Retaining lugs on trim (1) must not be damaged or missing.

The gasket on the trim (1) must not be damaged or missing.

Clip in cover (1).

Insert bulb socket (2) in tail light.

Connect the connector (1).

NOTE: Ensure bulb socket is correctly locked (2) and fitted in tail light.
