51 16 366 Removing and installing/replacing right glove compartment with housing (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR AT FRONT .
• Remove INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM AT BOTTOM RIGHT .

Removal: 

Unclip the trim (1) outward from the clamps (2).

Feed the trim (1) out of the trim (3).

Release covers (1) from clamps (2) and disengage towards the rear.

Unscrew the screws (1).

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove glove compartment (2) inwards and disconnect associated plug connections.

Installation: 

When replacing, swap over the following parts: 

• GLOVE COMPARTMENT DAMPER .
• GLOVE COMPARTMENT COVER .
• GLOVEBOX LIGHT .

Connect associated plug connections.

Insert glove compartment (2) and tighten the screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 11AZ .

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 12AZ .

Install covers (1) and engage in clamps (2).

Insert the trim (1) into the trim (3).

Clip in the trim (1) using the clamps (2).

Required follow-up work: 

• Install the trim panel for the roof pillar in front. Refer to MIRRORS, DECORATIVE STRIPS, ASHTRAYS, CONSOLES TIGHTENING TORQUES and 51 43 201 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM FOR ROOF PILLAR AT FRONT (A-PILLAR), LEFT OR RIGHT (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV) .
• Install instrument panel trim, bottom right. Refer to 51 45 195 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM, BOTTOM RIGHT (COUNTRYMAN 2017-2023, EXCEPT PHEV) .
