Removing and installing/replacing EMF actuator (Cooper)

Preliminary work needed:

Release parking brake.
Switch off ignition.

IMPORTANT: Switch off ignition at least 30 s before disconnecting the plug connection!

Removal:

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Detach cable from holder (2).

Release the screws (1) and actuator (2).

Take off holder.

Installation:

NOTE: Check sealing ring (1), replace if necessary.
Apply a light coating of brake fluid to sealing ring (1) before lining.

NOTE: Carefully fit actuator drive until teeth engage and actuator drive rests flush on brake caliper.
If necessary, turn actuator drive slightly until bore and thread are flush.

Insert screws (1) and tighten.

Replace screws.

Parts : screws.

Tightening torque 34 41 2AZ .

Attach cable to holder (2).

Position plug connection (1) and lock.

Required follow-up work:

NOTE: After the repair is finished:

Switch on ignition and, using electrical parking brake operating element, open parking brake once, close once and open again.
