Checking cylinder head on watertightness (B36 engine) (Cooper base)
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove CYLINDER HEAD .
- Remove ALL HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS .
- Remove ECCENTRIC SHAFT .
Unscrew nuts (1).
Tightening torque 11 62 2AZ .
Remove trim strip (2).
Position and fasten cylinder head (1) on special tool.
Position and fasten special tool on the exhaust side of the cylinder head (1).
NOTE:
Assemble both special tools in a way that all water ducts on the cylinder head are sealed.
Disassemble connecting bracket (1).
Attach and fasten special tool to cylinder head.
NOTE:
Compressed air at special tool maximum 3 bar
.
Heat cylinder head to 60°.
Visual inspection in a water bath.
Heat cylinder head to 60°.
Visual inspection in a water bath.
Required follow-up work:
- Remove all special tools
- Install ALL HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS .
- Install ECCENTRIC SHAFT .
- Install the CYLINDER HEAD .
- Assemble engine
