Replace left radial shaft seal on differential (GS6-58BG) (Cooper base)
Special tools required:
- 230120
- 23 0 370
- 2 409 230
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT only at transmission end and hang up
Removal:
Preparing special tool 23 0 120:
Distance (1) <1 mm.
Insert special tool 23 0 120 in the radial shaft seal as far as stop. The support brackets spread by turning the nuts (2). Then screw in screw (3) and detach radial shaft seal.
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage:
Damage to the transmission housing will result in oil leaks!

Installation:
NOTE:
Coat sealing lips of radial shaft seal with transmission oil.
Drive radial shaft seal with special tool 2 409 230 into the transmission housing until sealing ring is flush with differential.
Check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL and check for leak.
Required follow-up work:
- Install LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT .
IMPORTANT:
After completion of work, check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL

The vehicle must be parked on a level surface in the 095 workshop to check the transmission oil level.
Use only the approved transmission oil: MINI transmission oil MTF 2 or MTF 3.
Failure to comply with this instruction will result in serious damage to the transmission.

Catch and dispose of leakage transmission oil.
