Removing and installing/replacing left parking brake Bowden cable (Cooper Convertible)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Read and comply with GENERAL INFORMATION .
• Remove WHEEL .
• Remove left and right TANK COVER .
• Release the heat shield.

Release bellows on parking brake lever.

Release adjusting stand (1) for parking brake Bowden cable.

Detach retaining clip (1) in arrow direction.

Disengage parking brake Bowden cable (2) from operating lever (3) at brake caliper.

Feed out parking brake Bowden cable (2) downwards.

Unfasten left parking brake Bowden cable (1) in connector (2) in arrow direction and detach.

Feed deep offset ring wrench (1) 9 Key range into open end of left parking brake Bowden cable.

Press down barbs in arrow direction.

Remove parking brake Bowden cable at middle (2) in arrow direction.

Detach parking brake Bowden cable from holder (1).

Press down retaining lugs (2) and remove parking brake Bowden cable (3).

Installation: 

Attach parking brake Bowden cable to holder (1).

Install parking brake Bowden cable (3) in holder.

Retaining lugs (2) must be fully engaged.

Press down barbs in arrow direction.

Insert parking brake Bowden cable at middle (2) in arrow direction into holder (2) and lock.

Insert left parking brake Bowden cable (1) into connector (2) in arrow direction and lock up to stop.

Feed in parking brake Bowden cable (2) from below.

Mount locking clip (3).

Engage parking brake Bowden cable (2) in operating lever (1) on brake caliper.

Required follow-up work: 

• Mount the left and right TANK COVER .
• Fit heat shield.
• Install WHEEL .
• Adjust PARKING BRAKE .
